Sclerotherapy is a treatment for improving the appearance of veins on the legs. It can also improve symptoms such as aching, swelling and burning (associated with leg veins). Sclerotherapy involves injecting a chemical solution directly into the vein causing it to collapse and stick together and, the blood to clot. Over time, the vessel turns into scar tissue that fades from view.
